| FROM THE EAST Installation Speech of W:. Bro. Rob McCarthy |
| My Brothers, As we look forward to December, we have some important business to attend to at our first meeting (DEC. 1). Unfortunately for us, our Wor. Bro. BRUCE SIMON has deemed it necessary to resign as Trustee because of his extended travelling in his retirement. We will therefore be electing a Brother to fill the unexpired term. I would like to thank Wor. Bro. Bruce on behalf of our Lodge for all his hard work as Trustee, and we hope he is enjoying his travels. (I am also available, Wor. Bro. Simon, should you ever need some extra company on any of your trips!!!!) Our second meeting in December (DEC. 15) will be a favorite Courtlandt Lodge tradition, our annual Courtlandt 34 Holiday Dinner! This year, we will be returning to Little Sorrento’s Restaurant in Cortlandt Manor, who gave us a wonderful dining experience last year. The cost will be $35 per Brother with your lady being the guest of the Lodge. Please note that reservations are a must, my Brother! Please see the enclosed flyer with all information. We look forward to see-ing you with us that evening. What a great month we have just finished! We started off November with a Veterans Honor Night presented by our Bro. SHAWN O’MARA who is also the Commander of American Legion Post #1030, our new landlords. He gave us a wonderful insight into the American Legion, their history, mission and the vast array of work they do for veterans and our community. We were joined by some of the members of the American Legion Post, which made the night even more enjoyable. Our Historian, Rt. Wor. Bro. PAUL MATTHEWS, shared some of our many Brothers throughout the years who had distinguished and noteworthy military service. Thank you Bro. O’Mara and Rt. Wor. Bro. Matthews for your great presentations! Our second meeting in November was our annual Brother Bring a Friend Night. Rt. Wor. Bro. PAUL MATTHEWS, Wor. Bro. BRUCE McKENNA, Wor. Bro. BILL SENIK and Bro. BOB McCARTHY presented Masonry and Courtlandt Lodge to our invited guests. Each Brother present added to our portrayal of what we as Masons are all about through their personal descriptions. The friends who joined us were treated to a variety of insights into Freemasonry, and Courtlandt Lodge #34 which truly made this night special. Two days later, my guest, a co-worker and friend, was in my office with his signed Petition in hand, eagerly hoping for his acceptance into our Lodge! Thank you to all the Brothers who made this a night a success. As we come to the close of another year, we thank Great Architect of the Universe for all the blessings he has bestowed upon us this year, and pray that those blessings will continue in the years to come. Sadly, having had another of our long time Brethren called from our midst, we also remember those Brothers who have laid down the Working Tools of life this past year and we keep their families in our prayers during this holiday season: our Rt. Wor. Bro. Paul C. Edwards, Bro. Frank Mengel and Bro. Herb Kempter. My Brother, on behalf of my family — Fran, Kayla & Dylan - I would like to extend to you and yours our blessings for a joyous holiday season and a happy, healthy New Year. Sincerely & Fraternally W:.
